Salesians of Don Bosco

Founder

Saint John Bosco (1815-1888), under God’s inspiration and guided by Mary, dedicated his life to the human and Christian formation of young people. He put his work under the patronage of Saint Francis de Sales, the zealous pastor and doctor of charity. He founded the Society of Saint Francis de Sales, now known as the Salesians of Don Bosco, composed of brothers and priests. He worked with Saint Mary Mazzarello for the founding of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, known also as the Salesian Sisters. He organized the Lay Association of Salesian Cooperators and the Association of Mary Help of Christians. Today this Salesian Family has expanded to thirty institutes and associations in the Church who follow the Salesian charism of Saint John Bosco.
